Michael demanded that the film for the Thriller video be completely destroyed, so that the world would never see it after he found out that the Jehovah’s Witnesses (his family’s religion at the time) were threatening to excommunicate him (officially kick him out of the religion and ban him from ever practicing it again) because they believed the Thriller video violated their strict rules about occult imagery. But the editor and director hid the film canisters until the singer changed his mind.
