Well, well, well…the public spoke and this time, law officials in Los Angeles must have heard them. Either that, or the heat is gettin’ a tad bit too hot for their controversial police force to handle.
As we previously reported, Kerry Lathan (56) -one of Nipsey Hussle’s friends who was shot during the attack that claimed Nip’s life- was quietly arrested by LAPD on probation violation charges, for being friends with Nipsey- a reformed Rolling 60s Crip gang member.
Following the shooting, Lathan is now confined to a wheelchair. He was also just 5 DAYS out of jail -after serving a 20 year bid- when LAPD arrested him at a halfway house for his association to Nipsey.
When news spread about LAPD arresting one of the victims of the deadly March 31st shooting, fans were giving the LAPD hell all up n’ down social media.
Fast forward to today, and it’s just been reported that Lathan is expected to be released from jail soon, after the public outcry:
Via TMZ: Lathan was transferred to Men’s Central Jail in downtown L.A. but a rep with L.A. Superior Court tells us the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation withdrew its petition to revoke his parole.
It’s unclear why the Corrections Department is making this move but as you know … Nipsey’s been celebrated as a hero in his community by everyone from L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti to President Obama.
