When it comes to the ever-growing charges against R. Kelly, it only seems to get worse as time goes on. This go ’round it is a reported “friend,” an “associate” and a “relative” of the “Bump N’ Grind” crooner who are in hot water with the Feds, which in turn could put Kellz in more hot water as well.
Three men, whom Feds say are affiliated with R. Kelly, have been tampering with and/or intimidating witnesses in his pending NYC racketeering case. According to reports, on Tuesday (Aug. 11, 2020), the U.S. Department of Justice announced that Richard Arline, Donnell Russell, and Michael Williams have been “arrested and charged for allegedly intimidating witnesses in the disgraced singer’s racketeering case in NYC.” The charges read like a scene outta a mob boss film. The Alleged Arson Incident
Feds say that Williams- an alleged relative of Kellz, who also once reportedly served as his publicist- apparently tried to scare one of Kelly’s alleged victims, by committing arson. In June 2020, the “relative” is said to have straight up set fire to an SUV that was parked outside of the alleged victim’s home. Geesh! On to the next…
The Alleged Bribery Attempt
It was also reported that Arline, who claims to be R. Kelly’s friend, attempted to bribe one alleged victim with a $500,000.00 offer if she instead opts to “NOT cooperate with prosecutors.” There’s more…
The Reported Extortion Attempt
Then there’s the apparent extortion attempt in which Russell -who claims to be R. Kelly’s advisor, friend, and manager- is accused of threatening to expose “sexually explicit pics of an alleged victim and publicly reveal her sexual history if she didn’t withdraw her civil suit.”
R. Kelly’s Team Denies It All
According to Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s attorney, the “Seems Like You’re Ready” O.G. does not know any of the three aforementioned brothas now accused of trying to illegally help him in the case:
Via TMZ: Greenberg [says] his team just learned about these charges against Kelly’s so-called “associates.” He says, “Without question, Robert Kelly had nothing to do with any of these alleged acts by those charged. He has not attempted to intimidate anyone, or encouraged anyone else to do so. No involvement whatsoever.”
Whew! Clearly, there’s a LOT going on in R. Kelly’s pending case, and somebody (or several somebodies) may have some explaining to do come trial day. We’ll keep y’all posted on this.
