Singer, Nivea, had a poppin’ R&B music career in the early 2000’s- she once sang backup for Mariah Carey and her song, Don’t Mess with My Man, was nominated for a Grammy Award. Yet, it seems like she’s mostly noted for having children with two superstars in the music game: The-Dream and Lil’ Wayne. *Scroll down to see their children*
Although her relationships with either of them didn’t last, Nivea’s proven two things throughout her journey: (1) she is very fertile; and (2) she is a strong, wonderful mother to her four children. So, how did she have 4 babies in three years, by two superstar exes, you ask? Let us explain…
First Was Lil’ Wayne
In February of 2002, Nivea began dating rapper, Lil’ Wayne. They were so in love, that in her July 2003 interview with Sister to Sister Magazine, Nivea revealed she and Wayne were engaged.
Nivea: “‘I got your Christmas present with me and you’re gonna love it,’ Nivea stated [about Lil Wayne’s proposal]. ‘It’s gonna make you smile.’ He got down on his knee and he was like, ‘I know I’m young, but I’ve been through enough relationships to know and understand the meaning of what love is.’ He was just perfect. He told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and he loved me. It was snot and tears at the same time.”
Unfortunately in August 2003, Lil Wayne reportedly called off his engagement to Nivea. He then married his daughter’s mother, Antonia “Toya'” Wright, whom he married in 2004. Nivea was not one to sit around moping though, she moved on as well, with The-Dream.
Then Came The-Dream & 3 Kids
The same year Lil’ Wayne married Toya, Nivea married R&B singer/producer, Terius “The-Dream” Nash, in December 2004. Their adorable daughter, Navy Nash, was born on May 10, 2005. They quickly became pregnant again with their twin sons, London Nash and Christian Nash, born in April 2006. The couple soon divorced in 2007 and they both spoke out about it publicly.
The-Dream On Why He Divorced Nivea
Via Ballerstatus: Dream says that…as his popularity grew, he admitted that he became bitter that his singer/wife [Nivea] wasn’t matching his status. While he says it’s not the only reason, he says contributed to their split. “When you’re no longer able to have a certain type of fun with your partner and it turns into a relationship where you’re kinda like trying to get them … get a certain thing or understand something … You start to get bitter, and you don’t wanna be that,” Dream says. “That’s what happened in my relationship when I was married. I just … I ended it. That’s when I decided to end it because I didn’t wanna take this good person and treat them a certain way based off what I was changing into.”
Nivea On Her Divorce From The Dream
Nivea sat down with Rolling Out magazine to reveal how she handled their divorce:
“We’re cool. It was a mutual agreement to call it quits, she said, before explaining, I’m lying, it’s not. We supposed to say that, but it’s not true. It wasn’t no mutual agreement, he [The-Dream] wanted to do it, I didn’t, but it’s done. I’m dealing with it…
Back To Lil Wayne & 1 More Kid…Plus 2 More Mothers
After ending her relationship with The-Dream, Nivea reconciled with her “first love,” Lil’ Wayne, in 2007. So committed to Wayne, she even remained with him upon learning that he had a child with his ex, Sarah Vivan, in October 2008. By 2009, Nivea also learned that another woman was in Lil Wayne’s life. In September of 2009, he had a son with actress, Laura London. Two months later in November of 2009, Lil’ Wayne welcomed a son with Nivea. For the second time, Nivea and Lil’ Wayne called off their alleged engagement.
