Video- Mathew Knowles Finally Confirms He’s Been Secretly Married For Years..Meet His Young Wife

Beyoncé and Solange’s daddy, Mathew Knowles, has finally confirmed what we told y’all a few years ago- that he’s secretly been married to his wife for years now. As we previously reported, after divorcing his wife of 31 years, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Matthew married a much younger woman on the low, whom he’s happily in love with.

Knowles’ Confirmation

When he recently appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” to discuss his latest autobiographical book, “Racism From The Eyes Of A Child,” Wendy brought up his new wife, Gena Charmaine Avery. Mathew seemed slightly caught off guard, but he decided to finally tell his truths:

“Uh…most people dint even know I’m married, it’ll be five years in a few months.”

Mathew was always asked if his new wife fit the same mold that his beloved mother trained him to like as a youngin’: a non-brown, nor no-dark skinned woman with, and I quote, “nappy hair.” Again, Mathew was put on the spot, but didn’t back down, simply answering with, “She’s a beautiful woman” and we couldn’t agree with him more on that. Check out his wife, Gena, below…

Here is Mathew with his wife, Gena Charmaine Avery. Gena’s a realtor and they were engaged in 2011 (the same year Mathew and Tina divorced), ultimately marrying on June 30, 2013. At the time, Matthew (now 66) was 61 and Gena was 48. Their wedding did NOT come without some behind the scenes family tension apparently…scroll down for that info…

Why Bey’ & Solange Skipped The Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Knowles are clearly “crazy in love, like Jay-Z and Beyonce.’ However, apparently on Mathew’s and Gena’s wedding day, Mathew’s eldest daughters’ didn’t seem so “crazy in love” with the idea of witnessing their Pops exchange vows with his new bride. How so? Because Beyonce’ and Solange pulled a no-show for Mathew’s wedding, later reportedly stating they had prior engagements they couldn’t break (yeah, okay).

But there may have been another minor factor the two Knowles sisters weren’t too thrilled about Gena’s and Mathew’s wedding. You see, Gena isn’t either of the TWO baby mommas Matthew acquired in 2010, when he was still married to Bey’ and Solange’s mama, Tina.

During the time of Mathew’s 2013 wedding, there were still whispers around the industry that his extra-curricular activities toward the end of his marriage, still had a strong, pungent taste in his daughters’ mouths. So them boycotting the wedding out of animosity for their dad at that time, wouldn’t be far-fetched, if that were the case.

Better Days

The good thing is that they’re in a much better space now and Mathew told Wendy Williams that he’s now shifted from the role of daddy-manager, to the current role of being a father to them 100% of the time:

“For years I played the dual role as their manager and their father. …Today I…live the role a hundred percent as their father. And I’m extremely proud of them -not…just what they’ve done professionally- but how they’ve lived their life off the stage…”

That seems to bring MAJOR joy to him, Solange and Beyonce’ these days and Mathew’s also a proud grandfather to his four grandbabies.

Why He Laughed At Solange & Jay-Z Fight

On a lighter note, during the interview, Mathew also admitted that he laughed hysterically when he first saw that video of Solange punching the hell outta Jay-Z in the elevator, as Beyonce stood by like nothing was happening. He says exactly what we saw, is exactly what it is behind the scenes on a daily, calling Solange a “firecracker,” Jay-Z a level headed big brother type to her, and Bey’ one to never involve herself in the nonsense.

In addition to Mathew finding happiness, we gotta give a round of applause for mama Tina surviving her past marital struggles with her ex and now finding love again with her actor husband, Richard Lawson.
