After Missing Janet’s Performance, Fans Drag Paris & She Addresses Family Drama

Loyal fans of the Jackson family were recently able to see something they no longer see often: members of the Jackson fam’ making a public appearance together. For those who missed it, Janet Jackson was awarded the Billboard Icon Award on May 20, 2018. But not only was she honored, she also took the stage with a FIRE performance that only “Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty” could pull off.

To celebrate the pivotal moment in Janet’s career, her mother, Katherine Jackson, sister Rebbie Jackson, and nephew, Prince Jackson attended the awards show. However, there was one person who didn’t show up whom apparently the fans were expecting to see- her niece, Paris Jackson. As expected, her absence didn’t go unnoticed and a few of Janet’s bold fans took to social media to slam Paris for allegedly dissin’ her aunt. Tired of the BS from strangers, Paris decided to clap back at everyone who thinks they know all about the Jackson family.

Shortly after the awards show, social media users began trolling Paris’ accounts, flooding her timelines with seemingly rude posts. According to People Magazine, she wasted no time responding to the backlash. On Monday, May 21, Paris took to Instagram to share her side of the story and set the record straight. In the now-deleted post, Paris revealed she didn’t show up because she wasn’t invited.

“No one from my mgmt reached out to me about attending billboards or about the award, and no one from my family did either. I had absolutely no idea until y’all spammed with hatred,” Paris revealed.

After addressing the elephant in the room, Paris got down to business, firing back at Janet’s fans who attempted to drag her for not supporting her aunt. While at it, Paris also confirmed that there is currently some type of  “sh*tty” family tension within the Jackson fam’:

“Dear social media followers, friends, stalkers, lovers and haters, and fellow moonwalkers. Please do not tell me/demand/try to control how I handle my relationship with the people in my life, specifically my family. As amazing and as sh*tty as things can be, it is no one’s business but ours. I understand that some of you feel some sort of connection or need to be a part of our lives considering you watched us grow up; however, I am handling my situation exactly how my father did. And I am happy keeping it that way. … Every family has their moments of trauma, heartbreak, separation, love, oneness, tribe, pain, everything. EVERY FAMILY,” she wrote. “My family, specifically, and a good number of others… Well, our drama is broadcasted worldwide through media, but that doesn’t mean our family issues are any different from yours. Ours are just made public.”

She continued:

“Every level has another devil. Every life has their own sh** to deal with. We ain’t inferior or superior to y’all. We’re all f***ing human, so let’s act like it. I will always have love and respect for my family. ALWAYS. There is nothing more or less than that you need to know. Thank you for understanding.”

Paris definitely shed some light on the reality of her family. Although she didn’t go into detail about whatever drama the Jackson family may be dealing with, as y’all can see, she did make one thing clear: Despite being celebrities, they’re average people, like everyone else. Therefore, they, too, have their share of drama and disagreements. Nevertheless, props to Michael Jackson’s daughter for not cuttin’ any corners, by telling people where to go and how to get there, but still upholding her respect for her family members.
