NBA icon, Michael Jordan, and his ex-wife, Juanita Vanoy-Jordan, probably couldn’t be happier right about now. Why? Because their only daughter (out of their 3 kids together) is all grown up and will soon be able to shout, ‘I’s married nah!,’ just like ‘Shug Avery’ did in “The Color Purple.” Okay, that was a really random reference, but it still pertains to the topic nonetheless. At 25 years old, Jasmine M. Jordan is smiling from ear to ear over that nice rock her man just put on her ‘I’m spoken for’ finger. She’s marrying Rakeem Christmas, a man who has a lot in common with her pops- he, too, is a pro basketball player. Rakeem is a Syracuse University graduate, who played overseas, for the New Zealand Breakers in Auckland, New Zealand, this past season.
Jasmine announced that Rakeem had popped the question on her social media accounts, with emotional photos attached with a caption.

So far, neither Michael Jordan, nor Juanita have spoken out about their daughter’s engagement. However, for Father’s Day, Jasmine shared pics of herself, her dad, and her fiancee chillin’ on a yacht somewhere, cheesin’ it up for the camera. Clearly, that is an indication that the NBA icon approves of his soon-to-be son-in-law.
Past Controversy & Lesbian Rumors
Unfortunately, a celebrity as big as Jordan wouldn’t be an icon if he- or in this case, his offspring- were not shrouded in some type of controversial moment in time. That brings us to those persistent rumors about Jasmine’s sexuality.
In 2013, Jasmine shook up the internet, after posting a lovey dovey photo with her friend, who was reported by Media Take Out (MTO) as being a lesbian. In the photo, Jasmine is closely hugging her female friend around her waist. Following the major hype and lesbian rumors, Jasmine then took to Instagram to post a now deleted response to address the claims, without actually denying the rumor at all. According to MadameNoire, her posts read:
“MTO has struck again! Lol but just like the last time, I’m chillin and not bothered. Negativity go to the left and take a seat. No time for that! Everyone have an amazing day!” Jasmine Jordan wrote.
And also this:
”Until Love, Trust, Honesty, Repost, Loyalty, Commitment, Genuine, Happiness and other characteristics or aspects I want in a relationship is defined by one gender then and only then will I discuss my sexual preference.”
Here, at ILOSM, we couldn’t care less if a person is straight, gay, lesbian, try-sexual, bisexual, or asexual. The most important factor is that when one finds their true love, they do not allow external judgement deny them of their right to be loved, which is clearly what Jasmine M. Jordan has done.
