In the play, Da Brat played the infamous role of Cleo, which was Queen Latifah’s starring role in the 1996 film. The play ran from March of this year until May in Atlanta with other scheduled shows in various cities. Shortly after the play began running, Stevens’ legal team filed court documents attacking Ticketmaster. As expected, Ticketmaster quickly fired back with a legitimate explanation of the situation.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Stevens fired off a subpoena to Ticketmaster, who sold tickets to the play, demanding they turn over all contracts with Da Brat and information about her salary. Ticketmaster says the rapper was not their employee and claims to not owe her a dime. They pleaded with the court to not allow Stevens to drag them into the battle.

Right now, the judge has yet to make a decision regarding the latest court documents filed.

A Reckless Past:

The latest reports about Da Brat’s club fight follow a string of reports about the situation over the years. For those who don’t know, Da Brat and Stevens became embroiled in a heated argument at an Atlanta club. The incident ended with Da Brat hitting Stevens in the face with a bottle. As a result of the attack, she reportedly suffered permanent physical damage and neurological impairment. Da Brat was sentenced to three years behind bars. While most fans felt like jail time was a bit much, unfortunately, it wasn’t Da Brat’s first run-in with the law. In fact, it wasn’t the first time she’d allegedly assaulted another woman. Back in 2000, Da Brat faced charges for pistol-whipping a woman over VIP seating at a nightclub in the affluent Buckhead-area of Atlanta. According to MTV News, Da Brat was sentenced to “80 hours of community service, serve a year’s probation and pay a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to misdemeanor reckless conduct.”
