There’s love in the air for Jermaine Jackson y’all…with a dash of payback from his ex-wife on the side. It was just in August 2018, that the Jackson 5 OG was giddy as a kid in a candy store, when he announced his plans on marrying his ‘Tender-roni’ 23 year old girlfriend, Maday Velazquez (pictured below).
Fast forward to the following month (Sept. 2018) and Jermaine’s current-yet-estranged wife, Halima Rashid, ain’t goin’ down that easy without a fight. From the sum she’s just copped in their ongoing court battle, looks like Jermaine has lost their latest round.
What Jermaine’s Wife Was Just Awarded
Ever since Halima filed for divorce from Jermaine in 2016, they’ve been battling it out over alimony payments. Jermaine’s been crying broke to the court, claiming he pretty much earns pennies on a monthly basis. Like many, including Halima, the first generation sibling of THE most iconic musical family ever -Jermaine- seems kinda suspect with his ‘broke’ claims. True, any celeb’ can fall on hard times. Unfortunately, it happens all the time. However, Jermaine being practically penniless just seems fishy. Pretty sure he’s found some way or another to use his legendary status to continuously earn enough income for the amount of money Halima has been claiming he has all along.
Apparently the judge presiding over their divorce process agrees with Halima, because Jermaine has just been ordered to pay what he didn’t want to:
Via The Blast: Jermaine Jackson has been ordered to start paying his ex-wife temporary spousal support while they continue to hammer out the details of their divorce. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Jackson was ordered to pay Halima Rashid $2,500 per month in temporary spousal support, with half due on the first and 15th of every month.
There’s more. Because Jermaine Jackson has been stressing to courts that he has no money to pay Halima, the judge even arranged a convenient payment plan for the back payments he’s been ordered to pay Halima as well:
Jackson was also ordered to pay retroactive support dating back to June 1, 2018, meaning he owes her another $10,000. The judge said Jackson can pay that back by shelling out $2,000 a month until she is paid in full. -via TB
Jermaine and his estranged wife were married for 12 years (since 2004), before Halima filed for divorce in 2016 and they have no children together. They’ll face off at their divorce trial in December 2018. Meanwhile, although we’re pretty convinced that Jermaine doesn’t wanna pay Halima a dime, at least the 63-year-old legend will have his blushing 23-year-old bride-to-be to lean on for support at a time like this.
