Nia Long has emerged victorious in her custody battle with her ex-boyfriend/NBA coach, Ime Udoka, and is set to receive a substantial amount in monthly child support. According to court documents, the exes reached a settlement where they will share joint custody of their 12-year-old son.
Their Child Support Details
The agreement, negotiated by Nia Long’s powerhouse attorney Samantha Spector, takes into account Nia’s successful acting and business career, granting Ime a break on support. The settlement states that Ime’s monthly disposable income is $465,804, and since their son resides with Nia 95% of the time, the child support payment would have been $56,389. However, the former couple mutually agreed on a monthly amount of $32,500.
In addition to the custody arrangement, the agreement also addresses the timeshare between Nia and Ime. As the head coach for the Houston Rockets, Ime has extensive travel commitments during the basketball season and potential post-season playoffs. For the current 2023-2024 season, the parents agreed that Ime has less than a 5% timeshare with their son, while Nia has approximately 95% timeshare in Los Angeles, California.
Under the settlement, Ime Udoka is entitled to reasonable visitation, with Nia Long having the authority to make decisions for their son in cases of disagreement, provided she gives advanced notice. The NBA coach will also maintain their son’s health and dental insurance, with both parents collaboratively making decisions regarding his health, education, and welfare.
Recap Of The Cheating Scandal
This settlement comes after months of legal proceedings, with Nia initially seeking sole physical and legal custody of their son in her legal documents. Ime responded by requesting joint custody and equal authority in essential decisions. The high-profile nature of their breakup, fueled by accusations of infidelity, created a crazy amount of attention back in 2022. Ime was terminated from the Boston Celtics after reportedly being busted for gettin’ hot n’ heavy in the sheets with a staff member…behind Nia Long’s back.
Throughout this challenging time, Nia has been open about the emotional toll the situation has had on their son. She expressed heartbreak over witnessing his distress, especially when the Celtics organization made their private situation public, leading her to withdraw him from school for a day. Nia has been vocal about her disappointment in the lack of support from the Celtics organization.
The settlement reached by Nia Long and Ime Udoka marks an important milestone in their custody battle. Nia’s successful legal representation, coupled with their mutual agreement, has allowed them to move forward and prioritize the well-being of their son.
Meanwhile, pretty sure Nia will be have to beat the fellas off with a stick now that she’s single. And hopefully, for Ime’s next public relationship he won’t make anymore ill choices that’ll end up getting him dragged left n’ right out here in these social media streets again. Wishing them the best going forward.
