As the drama unfolds in R. Kelly’s sex abuse cases, his attorney is now speaking out to offer more clarity as to what went down in court the day prior, on Thursday (May 30, 2019). Simply put, it’s gettin’ hella hot in the kitchen for the “Seems Like You’re Ready” singer.
The Official Charges Against R. Kelly…
In case y’all haven’t heard, R. Kelly was hit with 11 new charges of sex abuse and sex assault, in addition to the 10 pending felony charges he’s already facing in an upcoming Cook County, IL. trial.
Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx’s office charged R. Kelly with ‘5 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, 4 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and 2 counts of criminal sexual assault.’
The court documents state that the “12 Play” crooner is accused of committing the crime of sexually penetrated a victim, listed as “J.P.,” by either ‘the use of force,’ or ‘threat of force’ in January 2010, when “J.P.” was under the age of 18. The legal docs also claim that R. Kelly forcibly made ‘contact between his penis and the alleged victim’s mouth.’
In addition to the aforementioned allegations, the court documents say that alleged victims, between the ages of 13 and 16, are listed in 3 of the new sex abuse charges he’s been hit with.
Publicist Reveals Who They Believe “J.P.” Is…
R. Kelly’s publicist, Darrell Johnson, told TMZ that ‘Kelly maintains his innocence and denies all accusations brought against him in the latest charges.’ Johnson says the woman they believe “J. P.” to be, is the same woman who was in the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series, Jerhonda Pace.
Jerhonda (shown above) is the woman who previously alleged, in interviews, that she was having sex with R. Kelly as teenager and lived with him for a while. Pace accused Kelly of forcing her to have sex with females as well. She also reportedly claimed that for years, he’d been paying her ‘hush money’ for her emotional pain and that she decided to speak out in recent years because R. Kelly stopped paying her per their reported ‘agreement.’ However, it still hasn’t been proven that the “J.P.” listed n the new court docs is, in fact, Jerhonda Pace.
Now R. Kelly’s Attorney Says This…
Here is what R. Kelly’s attorney revealed to TMZ:
Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, tells us … the new charges concerning J.P. include more serious felonies than the original indictment — the most serious class of felony in Illinois short of murder.
Greenberg says prosecutors upgraded and added the charges, but the original charges are still active.
