The moment that we’ve been waiting on is finally here. Beyoncé has graced the Bey Hive with the first photo of her twins and they are adorable.
Sir Carter and Rumi:
On her Instagram page Friday morning, the 35 year-old singer shared the first photo of the twins, who are said to be 1 month old today (7-14-17). ‘Mrs. Lemonade’ captioned the image of the twins by saying the following: Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today.

Sticking with the same theme of her maternity shoot, Beyoncé seemed to be partially nude with her body draped in a long, floral gown. Outside in a garden, surrounded by a bunch of flowers, ‘Queen Bey’ portrays motherhood as natural, beautiful, and organic. Interestingly enough, her captioned confirmed what we shared last month. Beyoncé confirmed the names of her twins for the first time after filing trademark documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in late June. Many people questioned the names but her caption killed the rumors. Jay-Z and Beyoncé did the same thing when Blue Ivy was born.

According to TMZ, rumors were circulating that Jay-Z and Beyoncé named their twins Rumi and Sir Carter. Apparently, Bey’s company filed trademark documents for the names on June 26th, through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. At the same time that Mr. and Mrs. Carter trademarked their babies’ names, the twins were reportedly on their way home. The docs are filed by the same company that filed for Blue Ivy to be trademark earlier this year. According to the filing, they requested trademarks to be used for various merchandise, including baby teething rings, baby carriages and strollers. Hmmm…should we expect to see these names on baby items in stores soon? Only time will tell if Rumi and Sir will have their own business before they’re even able to digest solid foods.
By the way, in case you’re wondering why they chose the name, Rumi, it appears to be an homage to a 13th century Persian poet by that name and the name, Sir, happens to be referenced in one of his most famous poems:
Bring the pure wine of
love and freedom.
But sir, a tornado is coming.
More wine, we’ll teach this storm
A thing or two about whirling.
On June 17th we learned that Bey’ had given birth to she and Hov’s babies in Los Angeles. However, the actual birth date of the twins were unknown until now. Judging by her caption, the twins were born on June 14th. They join 5-year-old big sister, Blue Ivy Carter, who helped stir speculation that the twins had arrived when she was spotted at a hospital with her Pops shortly before news of Rumi and Sir’s births broke.
Now that we know the names, it’s quite possible that the names could indicate the gender of the twins. Sir Carter seems fit for a boy and Rumi could go either way. It was rumored that Beyoncé delivered a boy and a girl after a an unidentified woman supposedly connected to the Carters was spotted carrying a bouquet of flowers and also two giant baby foot-shaped pink and blue balloons which said; “Baby Girl” and “Baby Boy.
Congrats again to the Carter fam!’ Welcome to the world Sir and Rumi Carter.
