She Continued…
Streisand said that when she first met Michael Jackson, he “was very sweet, very childlike.” She also expressed sympathy for MJ and the accusers:
“His [Michael Jackson’s] sexual needs were his sexual needs, coming from whatever childhood he has or whatever DNA he has. … I feel bad for the children. I feel bad for him.”
Like many, Streisand blames Safechuck’s and Robson’s parents for repeatedly allowing their kids to be left alone with MJ:
“I blame, I guess, the parents, who would allow their children to sleep with him. … Why would Michael need these little children dressed like him and in the shows and the dancing and the hats?”
As you can imagine, Barbra’s fans have been draggin’ her from here to Timbuktu on social media.
Streisand’s odd comments defy the norm of what we’ve been seeing since the Leaving Neverland documentary released. Typically, people either believe the accusers, or they believe that MJ did not do what he’s being accused of.
But Streisand has merged those two stances and in my opinion, it’s making her sound very weird. She’s defending Michael, by saying he had “sexual needs” stemming from his childhood. She’s also simultaneously professing sympathy for MJ’s accusers, while offending anyone who has ever been molested, by implying victims shouldn’t be too affected by the abuse…as long as they can somehow benefit from it.
Message to Barbra Streisand: Pick a side…just one side -the accusers’ or MJ’s- because right now you’re sounding hella insensitive trying to choose both.
