In case you’re wondering why Rumi, the name Rumi appears to be an homage to a 13th century Persian poet by that name and the name sir happens to be referenced in one of his most famous poems:

Bring the pure wine of
love and freedom.
But sir, a tornado is coming.
More wine, we’ll teach this storm
A thing or two about whirling.

To make the names of the twins more exciting, Jay-Z just dropped his long-awaited album, 4:44, at midnight. In the deeply personal project, Jay comes clean on everything from infidelity rumors, his newest bundles of joy, his tumultuous friendship with Kanye West as well as his acceptance of his mother’s lesbian relationship.

On Saturday, June 17 we learned that the singer had given birth to her and the rapper’s babies in Los Angeles. They join 5-year-old big sister Blue Ivy Carter, who helped stir speculation that the twins had arrived when she was spotted at a hospital with her dad shortly before news of Rumi and Sir’s births broke. While these names haven’t been confirmed by the legendary couple themselves, it didn’t take long before Twitter blew up with reactions to the baby names.

Initially, after learning of the twin’s arrival, according to TMZ, the Carter twins were unable to come home because they had been receiving treatment for jaundice and were ‘under the lights’ for the last week. Thankfully, jaundice is very common and the illness is not thought to have long-term effect. The whole world was praying for the musical couple to return home with their newborns, however, the doctors wanted to keep them in care ‘until they were stable. While the twins are home, we still do not know the gender of the Carter twins.

Speculation grew when an unidentified woman was photographed Friday carrying a large bouquet of pink, blue and purple flowers – complete with a card that appeared to read ‘B + J’ – along with twin pink and blue balloons in the shape of feet that read ‘Baby Girl’ and ‘Baby Boy.’ However, many thought the twins were girls after former President Barack Obama referenced Jay’Z’s daughters at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
