Prior to the premiere of the Bobbi Kristina biopic, Bobby Brown did everything in his power to stop the film from airing. Unfortunately, he was unable to stop the film from airing, but now it looks like things still worked out in his favor. According to TMZ, Bobby Brown has reportedly settled with TV One.
Defamation Of Character:
Last month, a judge ruled in favor of TV One and granted the network permission to air the film. At the time, Bobby was hoping to block it because he wasn’t pleased with how he was depicted in the film as a negligent father. If you haven’t seen the film, it’s important to note that Bobby was depicted as absent throughout most of Bobbi Kristina’s adult life.
To the singer, this probably paints a picture of him as if he didn’t care at all about his daughter and Bobby has made it clear that isn’t the case. However, the producers of the film actually served as executive producers of Bobby Brown’s Bravo reality series, Being Bobby Brown. Of course, many aspects of the film were quite disheartening, but since the producers reportedly had firsthand experiences with the Brown family, it was relatively difficult to put a complete stop to the film. Despite the discrepancies though, Bobby has reportedly reached a settlement with the network.
Compensation For Damages:
It has been reported that Bobby Brown sued TV One for approximately $2 million in damages, citing defamation of character and a false depiction of him as a bad father and abusive husband during his marriage to Whitney Houston. At this point, it is unclear how much money Brown received in the settlement, but it has been confirmed that the case has been officially dismissed.
