Chicago Attorney Calls For Jussie Smollett To Be Re-Charged With Staging Alleged Attack

Bill McCaffrey, a spokesman for the city’s Department of Law said:

“Mr. Smollett has refused to reimburse the City of Chicago for the cost of police overtime spent investigating his false police report on January 29, 2019. The Law Department is now drafting a civil complaint that will be filed in the Circuit Court of Cook Country.”

On Monday an estimated 300 people, including off-duty Chicago police officers, took to the streets to protest, against Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. The crowd of people demanded she resign over her handling of the Smollett case.

However Foxx recused herself from the case before charges were filed. She admitted she had conversations with one of Smollett’s relatives and has defended her actions.

Prosecutors Claim He Staged The Attack

Smollett told police on January 29 that two supporters of President Donald Trump hit him, put a noose around his neck and poured bleach over him.

He claimed the attackers shouted racist and homophobic insults that included, “This is MAGA country.”

The former child actor also told cops they called him, “Empire f****t” and “Empire n*****.”

But on February 15, unconfirmed reports emerged that Smollet may have staged the attack to save his job. and get a pay rise,.

The actor, best known for his role as a gay musician on the Fox Television hip-hop drama Empire, was charged in February with staging the incident himself and filing a false police report.

Investigators said they believe Smollett may have paid Abimbola ‘Abel’ and Olabinjo ‘Ola’ Osundairo $3,500 to assault him in the orchestrated attack
