In case you haven’t heard, Public Enemy’s Chuck D. did a Twitter spread of interesting reasons as to why he is standing up for Bill Cosby’s legacy, but not actually defending Cosby and his alleged actions. After dozens of women have come forth accusing Cosby of sexual assault, there has been an ongoing debate between many who think Cosby’s legacy and philanthropy should remain separate from his personal life and many who believe it is impossible to do so.

Chuck D. is talking about the institutions and corporations, such as Walt Disney World, Spelman College (who just recently agreed to return a portion of the $20 million Cosby donated), Temple University (of which on of Cosby’s accusers was an employee), and others, either removing statues of Cosby, or disassociating themselves from him and his legacy after the many sexual allegations have surfaced.
