A few months ago Jill Scott entered a new line of business that isn’t what you’d normally expect from a singer, but it is very refreshing to see.
Scott now has her own cards, as in emotional, celebratory cards that you purchase for your loved ones for special occasions. Although this is outside of the more common perfume, or hair product endorsement we oftentimes from female entertainers, it fits really well with who Jill Scott is as an artist. She’s a writer/poet who sings to get her messages across. She’s an artist who has the ability to make the listener not just hear, but also feel her music. So it was only natural that when Hallmark’s Mahogany offered her the opportunity to addd her own line of cards to their brand, she said ‘yes.’
Mahogany is a popular brand of Hallmark cards that focuses on the African American culture. The deal was first announced in January 2017 and earlier today (July 16, 2017), Jill posted an adorable photo of her family members happily posing next to her cards inside of a mall…

At the time of the Jill Scott-Mahogany collaboration, Jill explained in an interview why she decided to do business with them:
Via Hallmark.com: “The Mahogany brand is genuine, progressive and optimistic – values that are important to me and reflected in my music and poetry, and now, through my card collection,” said Jill Scott. “I was inspired by highlights within my own life – love, marriage, motherhood – in the writing behind these cards, and I am excited to be involved in a project that will give others another way to express their love to the people that matter most to them.”
Via Hallmark.com: The Jill Scott Collection includes 20 cards for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduation, friendship, love and support. Ranging from $3.99 – $5.59, the cards feature unique combinations of patterns, colors, lettering and illustrations created specifically for this collaboration.

Any music artist who can deliver songs like Jill’s “Just Cross My Mind,” “A Long Walk,” “The Fact Is (I Need You),” etc., is the artist I want writing the words on my cards for some of the most sentimental moments in life. Don’t you agree? Congrats to Jill Scott, so glad she’s sharing her gift of poetry in new ways.
