what apparently went down between Madonna and D’Angelo:

Once D’Angelo’s star started to rise, he began to attract attention from all sorts of famous musicians, including Madonna. After singing to her at her request during her 39th birthday party, D’Angelo “rebuffed her advances at another gathering not long after,” the article says. “At that event, the sources say, Madonna walked over and told a woman sitting next to D, ‘I think you’re in my seat.’ The woman got up. Madonna sat down and told him, ‘I’d like to know what you’re thinking.’ To which D replied, ‘I’m thinking you’re rude.’ ”

It was like that folks! Now we’re sure Madonna never had a problem getting men, but this night just wasn’t her night. Ahh well, alls well that ends well. Props to the extremely reclusive D’Angelo for stepping outside of his comfort zone and sharing one his old school stories with the public.

ILOSM family do you think D’Angelo was outright wrong for his response to Madonna, or do you think he was 100% right?

  1. Most white women think everyone wants them. Too bad more (ALL) of our Black men don’t do as D’Angelo did and shut these white hoes down!

    1. That’s an interesting take you have on this one Ian and I definitely respect your opinion, although I feel differently about D’Angelo. There’s no doubt that Madonna is a pop icon and she deserves her accolades for sure because she worked hard and earned them, but I also think that D’Angelo is the truth too. Sure he’s not as big as Madonna, but I think he’s an extremely gifted artist and now that he’s recently released his newest album, “Black Messiah,” in my humble opinion he’s one of the last true artists of today left…at least on mainstream radio. There are plenty other great artists out there also, but they get completely overlooked by mainstream media, which is a whole other story. Anyways, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us on this my man…appreciate ya.’

    2. Please explain to me how he is ghetto? He’s one of the most talented and most influential artists of our time and just released one of the most critically acclaimed albums in recents years so please enlighten me.

        1. Ian, the definition of ghetto is a location where people of “all races” reside and these locations originated in Europe, during a time when Jews were restricted to certain neighborhoods. I’m just curious to know when you say that D’Angelo is “ghetto”, do you mean that he is poor, or that he is Jewish? I would guess that he lives in a neighborhood with a higher income bracket than yourself and he’s not Jewish, so could you explain to me what ghetto means to you?

    3. like when mainstream folks think they know “ghetto.” for your info, ghetto isn’t equal to black. and madonna is definitely a has been. she’s totally irrelevant.

    4. …And the best part of you ran down your father’s leg, trailer rat. Keep it cute or keep it mute, beige roach.

  3. I don’t care about celeb status or the amount of fame someone has, none of it is as valuable as good character and being considerate of others. She was rude to the other person sitting there, and she did ask D what he was thinking. I love his response because not only did he answer her, but he checked her rudeness. Short but sweet.

    1. Yeah Macy, she asked the question and he gave her his answer, plain and simple. I thought D’Angelo was straight forward and honest and I guess Madonna couldn’t do anything but respect that.

    2. Why are you so quick to believe everything that you read? Is this story coming from D’Angelo or Madonna?

        1. Actually, in the GQ article, it still says “sources say…” about this information. Therefore, it was not a direct quote from D’Angelo. Again, this was not directly said by him.

Any story today can write “sources say” and have people believe it. I stand by my original post.

  5. She is the type of woman who would take a man out of his bed with his wife on the plantation to service her and if he didn’t cooperate she would say she was raped, she acted just as entitled as the women back then, I see her with new eyes I think she could care less about men unless she can control them , she wanted a child and used a man to get it, If she would have gotten next to D if would just have been another noch on her garter.

    1. Wow, we’re taking it back to the plantation? HAHA. Well Madonna’s family was probably still herding sheep on a hillside in Italy in those days. There weren’t many italian slave owners at that time. The reason there aren’t too many of us with italian last names. That’s a little bigoted to associate her with negative stereotype because she’s white.

  9. How would anyone know about this conversation between the two of them?

Unless it’s coming from Madonna or D’Angelo, I’d say there’s no way someone could have known the exact words that were said… I’m calling bullshit on this article.

    COME ON, PEOPLE. THINK.

    1. Daniel, again, you’re absolutely wrong. If you read the article what you will find is that this story came from the interview D’Angelo did a few months ago with GQ Magazine. You’re also welcomed to Google it if you’d like. Have a good one.

      1. Nope, I’m not wrong.

The GQ article states, “sources say” about this information. This was not a direct quote from D’Angelo. Therefore, the actual words that were said in the conversation–who are the “sources”?

“The sources” is basically a way for writers to cite information without credibility. I will state this again: COME ON, PEOPLE. THINK.

Unless this is a direct quote from D’Angelo, “sources” is bullshit. YOU have a good one.

        1. Daniel I want to inform that if you take a look around our website and Facebook page, what you will find is that we have been delivering authentic Old School information since 2011 and you will see that we take the integrity of our brand and our ILOSM visitors very seriously. We spend an extreme amount of time researching every story we post, to make sure we give you the most accurate information possible and that is a 24 hour process – everyday. Another thing I want you to inform you about is the very detailed, legal procedure that publications like GQ must do prior to printing information. There is a research procedure we, in the industry, call ‘FACT CHECKING’ and unless major mainstream publications want to risk facing an extreme amount of lawsuits, they must ALWAYS fact check first, which means regardless of if they reveal their “sources” or not, they have already fully verified the information they have quoted from their “sources” who have that factual data they are relaying to their audience.

Also, when celebrities appear in an interview such as this one that D’Angelo did for GQ (which is the “source” for our article), they can also speak out to the public and loudly state that some piece of information that was revealed in their article was absolutely not true. Just so you know, that D’Angelo GQ article was released in their June 2012 issue. It is now 2 years and 9 months later and up to this day, there have been neither of the two take place- no lawsuit from Madonna against GQ, and no claims from D’Angelo of this being false information.

I hope this brings a bit of clarity to you and by the way, we all try to respect one another on this website, being that we’re an old school site and we’re all mature on here, even when disagree. So we would appreciate it if you refrain from the cussing toward us and possibly others on here in the future. Thanks for your feedback my friend…enjoy your day Daniel.
