Diddy Must Pay $100M To Male Inmate After Losing S-xual Assault Case, His Lawyer Reacts

Sean “Diddy” Combs

Another day, another lawsuit for Diddy…except this time, the dollar amount he now has to pay up to his latest male accuser is far larger than the one he allegedly had to pay to his ex, Cassie Ventura. However, the details of the claims are leaving some scratching their heads.

Diddy’s been ordered to pay a whopping $100 mill’ to a Michigan prison inmate, after losing a sexual assault case. Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, the accuser, claims that the incident took place back in 1997 at a party in Detroit, where he alleges Diddy drugged and sexually assaulted him.

Accuser’s Claims

According to the lawsuit, the accuser, Cardello-Smith, claims he and Diddy were smoking weed and drinking with several women at the ’97 party. The accuser claims as he was performing oral on a woman, he felt a male hand- which he says was Diddy’s hand- touching his left buttock. Soon afterward, Cardello-Smith claims he’d drank a drink that Diddy had given him, which he believes was spiked and caused him to pass out. Hours later, Cardello-Smith claims he woke up to see Diddy still having sex with a woman, during which time Diddy allegedly looked over to him stating, “I did this to you too.”

Why Diddy Loss The $100 Million Case

This lawsuit flew under the radar for years, but now it’s hit the spotlight due to a default judgment handed down because Diddy’s legal team never responded to the case.

The court’s ruling is a result of Diddy’s failure to respond to the lawsuit, leading to a default judgment that hit him with the massive financial penalty. Cardello-Smith, who’s serving time in Michigan, has been pursuing this case for years, but things took a turn when Diddy’s silence led the judge to side with the accuser. The court has now ordered Diddy to start paying up $10 million per month, with the first payment due in October.

Diddy’s legal team, however, is not taking this quietly. In a statement to TMZ, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, did not hold back, slamming the claims as fraudulent. Agnifilo stated, “This man [Cardello-Smith] is a convicted felon and sexual predator, who has been sentenced on 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years. His resume now includes committing a fraud on the court from prison, as Mr. Combs has never heard of him, let alone been served with any lawsuit.” He went on to say that Diddy is looking forward to having this judgment “swiftly dismissed.”

Will Diddy Be Able To Get This Overturned?

As of now, Diddy hasn’t personally responded to the judgment, and this definitely isn’t Diddy’s first trip ’round the legal block, but the scale of this case is something else. For someone with Diddy’s fame and fortune, it’s hard to believe that such serious allegations could slip through the cracks without a court defense, but that’s exactly what happened. Now, with a judgment in place, the question is: Will Diddy be able to get this decision overturned?

Given Diddy’s legal team’s strong words, it’s clear they aren’t gonna let this slide without a battle. Whether an appeal is coming; or some legal maneuvers are on deck…this case is far from over.

With the streets buzzin’ and the legal world watching, the future of this Diddy’s latest legal loss to Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith could see some unexpected twists. Stay tuned for more updates as Diddy and his team work to overturn this hefty judgment.
