Dr. Dre done had it up to HERE with republican representative, Marjorie Taylor Greene. In case y’all hadn’t heard…the controversial Trump-supporting, Georgia-based politician shared a video post of herself making her way to the House floor with Dr. Dre’s “Still Dre” song playing in the background. Now, Dre is goin’ off about Marjorie ‘illegally’ using his music. “to promote your divisive and hateful political agenda.”
Dr. Dre and His Attorney Spoke Their Minds In Letter To Representative Greene
Dr. Dre’s attorney, Howard King, had some choice words for Marjorie – on behalf of Dre – that let the controversial politician know exactly how Dre feels about her seemingly making it look as if Dre somehow condones her, or her divisive political views. For example…King’s letter noted, “Mr. Young [Dre] has not, and will never, grant you permission to broadcast or disseminate any of his music.”
Dre and his attorney didn’t stop there though…their letter also requested that Twitter block Marjorie’s “Still Dre” post. Not only did Twitter yank ol’ girl’s post down, the company also locked her account. But, there’s more…
Attorney King also stated in the letter, “you would have a passing familiarity with the laws of our country. It’s possible, though, that laws governing intellectual property are a little too arcane and insufficiently populist for you to really have spent much time on …We’re writing because we think an actual lawmaker should be making laws not breaking laws, especially those embodied in the constitution by the founding fathers.” Dayumn! But then came their ultimatum…
Dre and King gave Marjorie Greene an ultimatum that expires on January 11, as stated in their letter. They demanded that Marjorie cease and desist any current and/or future use of Dr. Dre’s music on any social media platform, writing, “please provide me with written confirmation that you have complied with these demands before January 11, 2023 by 5:00 pm EST.”
Greene Throws Shade At Dr. Dre
Apparently, Marjorie Taylor Greene might’ve sensed she’d get some backlash for using Dr. Dre’s music without his permission, she spoke out about him shortly before Dre sent his cease and desist letter to her:
Via TMZ – Before the letter was sent, Greene told TMZ, “While I appreciate the creative chord progression, I would never play your (Dr. Dre’s) words of violence against women and police officers, and your glorification of the thug life and drugs.”
Welp…guess we’ll all have to sit back with our popcorn and see how this thing plays out in the coming days. 🤷🏾♂️
