There are some things in life, we just can’t deny. For Dr. Dre- one look at his eldest son, Curtis Young, and he couldn’t deny he is the pappy even if he tried…yet, it took him 20 years to finally meet his now 39 year old seed, who could pass for his twin.

Curtis came into existence when Dr. Dre was just 16 years old and his then high school girlfriend, Cassandra Green, was 15. At age 12, Curtis learned who his real father was, but it wasn’t until age 15 that he began to actively attempt to meet his Pops. It would take him another 5 years to finally meet Dr. Dre at age 20 and in a prior interview with XXL, Curtis Young explained how they met and what he had to go through to make it happen.

“I started trying to meet him and hiring lawyers, whatever I could do,” Curtis Young revealed about seeking his dad, Dr. Dre. “It was rough. It was really hard to finally get the DNA test and meet him.”

Here’s What Happened The First Time Young Met His Dad, Dr. Dre

Curtis Young eventually reached one of Dr. Dre’s lawyers and that’s how the ball got rolling with the paternity test to confirm Dr. Dre is his dad:

“The first time I met my father was at the Sky Bar. We did a DNA test,” recalled Curtis. “I called his attorney Howard King and got in touch with him and told Dre what was up and we took a DNA test. That’s when we found out I was his son.”

He then explained why that time was tough on him as he tried to find his own identity within his Dad’s identity:

“You’re going through all this and you’re trying to find yourself, that’s a whole different period I went through,” said Curtis. “I was like, ‘I just want to be just like him [Dr. Dre]. I’m going to wear khakis and I’m going to be a gangster.’ It just really wasn’t me. I grew up in Compton, not that I’m no punk or anything, but I never had that in me. Everybody knew me and I was cool. I was the ladies man. Something that I had to grow into was just being Curtis Young. Curtis Young is a grown and sexy vibe, just talking about the life stories that I’ve been through. I had it rough. It’s not your average story.”

Curtis Young is a very humble dude, who’s determined to make a name for himself without the financial backing of his almost billionaire Dad. And besides, Dr. Dre has apparently remained committed to keeping his millions to himself and forcing his seeds to make a way on their own…at least that’s what is said to have happened with Curtis.

Nevertheless, Curtis a.k.a. Hood Surgeon is a rapper and producer, who also owns a high-end cannabis brick & mortar store in Canada….wow!

The title of actor has officially been added to Curtis Young’s resume’ as well. He’ll be scoring the soundtrack to and starring in an upcoming film alongside Snoop Dogg’s son and Swizz Beatz’s son…
