Gap Band Beef! See Why Charlie Wilson’s Brother Just Hit Him w/A Lawsuit!

fb charlie and gap bandWhy oh why did Charlie Wilson’s brother just ‘drop a bomb’ on him? The sibling rivalry between them has just reached a whole new level because Charlie’s big brother, Ronnie, has just hit him with a lawsuit and he’s prepared to see this thing all the way through.

Ronnie is claiming that after Charlie left the group in 2009, he’s been doing some slick things to block his Ronnie’s paper. You see, Ronnie has since formed a new Gap Band and they have been booking gigs across the country. The you-know-what really hit the fan recently when Ronnie claimed that his new Gap Band had two gigs booked in D.C. and New York that were gonna earn the band about $20,000. The only problem is that Ronnie says Charlie had his people step in and shut that down quicker than you could say “Burn rubber on me Charlie.” Sorry for that song reference fam’ I couldn’t resist. Okay back to the matter at hand…The Gap Band in London. December, 1983. ©ÊRay / Retna UKHere are more details on this Gap Band beef:

Ronnie Wilson filed a lawsuit claiming Charlie is derailing his efforts to launch a comeback tour. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Ronnie says he recently booked 2 big gigs — one at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in NYC, and another at Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Ronnie says after he sealed the deals, Charlie — who left the band in 2009 — had his people step in and somehow interfere with the bookings. Ronnie says both venues pulled the plug.

The elder Wilson points out his band existed for years before kid bro Charlie joined in ’72.

Ronnie says his new Gap Band stood to make more than $20k from the 2 gigs. He’s suing for damages and to get the court to block Charlie from interfering with future bookings.

Can’t we all just get along? I’m sure there’s a way for Charlie and Ronnie to work this thing out and settle this out of court, being that they’re brothers who love each other. Although I do understand that sometimes it doesn’t matter if it’s your own flesh n’ blood or not- sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do and teach folks a lesson. Hopefully they resolve this soon and in the meantime we’ll be getting our jam on to these Gap Band classics…
