It’s none other than Jody Watley. Yeah, we thought the “Dead Giveaway” (Get it? It’s a Shalamar song…LOL) would have been if we told you she was in a group with 2 guys…you would have easily guessed Shalamar.

Anyway, Ms. Jody’s niece, Arin Watley is getting ready to do it like Auntie. The 21-year old has a new cut “Monster.” It’s from her soon-to-be released album FADED DIARY. The entire album, just like the song, is full of mellow rhythmic jams. But the girl’s got a lil’ rap flow in her too. She goes toe to toe with the guest rapper, Geonnie J. on this one. It has a cool laid back vibe, check it out below…

It kind of sounds like Arin was influenced by Janet Jackson’s laid back songs like “Come Back To Me” and “Funny How Times Flies When You’re Having Fun.” She plays a little guitar too and something she’s known to say is “No matter what you say, dudes always have an answer.” Maybe she should write a song about that.

For those who don’t know, Her Aunt Jody (Jody Watley) released a brand new album a few months ago on her own label, Avitone, titled “Paradise.” Remember when this Chi-town girl was new to the game and was just doing her thing on Soul Train? Then when she, Jeffrey Daniel and Howard Hewett became Shalamar and gave us hits like “Night To Remember”, “Second Time Around” and “I Don’t Wanna Be The Last” it was a wrap! They made their mark in soul music history and Jody Watley became an 80’s R&B Sweetheart too with her solo hits. Remember how she had all the ladies singing “I’m Looking For A New Love, Baby”? Classic!
