Halle Berry has two sisters, one with whom she shares the same mother and another half sister from her Dad’s side of the family, whom most people never even knew existed. That’s why we decided to bring some attention to her in this article because a while back she tried to publicly clear up a misconception about their Father, at least from her perspective, but many people didn’t get to hear message. Halle had a different take on their Dad altogether though. Scroll down to check her out and see what she said…
Halle’s Sister Spoke Out
Meet Renee Berry. She’s the older sister of Halle.
Their father is the late Jerome Jesse Berry and after Renee’s mother, Edwina Taylor, left Jerome, he soon began an interracial relationship with Halle’s Caucasian mother, Judith Hawkins.
Mr. Berry and Judith eventually parted ways when Halle was four years old, but he always maintained a close relationship with Halle and her sisters.
A few years ago, Halle and Renee had a different account of their father’s parenting. Halle claimed that she witnessed her dad physically abusing her mother on several occasions and her sister, Renee, later publicly spoke and implied that their father would never hit a woman and that he also never physically abused them, although he would occasionally give them a butt whipping if they did something wrong as kids.
This is what Daily Mail reported about Halle and her sister, Renee’s account of their father, Jerome:
In interviews over the years, Halle has alleged Jerome was a violent alcoholic who beat her mother Judith in front of her and sister Heidi.
In [a prior] interview, Halle said: ‘I saw my mother battered, and could not do anything to stop it.
‘My father was tyrannical, lashing out at her for no reason. I felt the effects that had on our family – I’ve experienced what these women have gone through.’
Despite Halle’s negative memories of her childhood with Jerome, Renee paints a very different picture of their father as a ‘good man’.
She said: ‘My father never beat any of us. He would spank us from time to time, but he never abused us. He liked a drink or two, like anyone else does, but he was not an alcoholic.’
Halle and her big sis’ clearly have two very different perceptions of their late father. We’re not sure which one is accurate, but it’s interesting to see their different takes on the story and also finally see someone from the other side of Halle Berry’s fam.’
