We’ve all seen racial variations in adaptions of characters on the big screen before.

For instance we’ve seen the 2014 Annie remake starring African American actress, Quvenzhané Wallis, as the ‘orphan’ role that was previously portrayed as a Caucasian red head little girl; or Walt Disney’s adaption of The Frog Princess with their 2009 animated film, The Princess and the Frog  where the voice of actress, Anika Rose, brought to life the Black princess, “Tiana,” a character that was previously portrayed as a blonde Caucasian princess.

However, it’s very rare that we see an actual real-life celebrity (unlike the fictional characters we just mentioned) request that they be portrayed as a race other than their own. That is the current case of the controversial software tech mogul, John McAfee- the man responsible for creating the popular McAfee computer antivirus software.

Although actor, Johnny Depp, is supposedly slated to play McAfee in his upcoming biopic, McAfee actually wants the legendary Morgan Freeman to play him instead. Here’s what was reported by Newsweek:

[Johnny] Depp will play McAfee in The King of The Jungle, according to Deadline Hollywood, portraying the antivirus mogul during his controversial time in Belize. McAfee tells Newsweek that, to the best of his knowledge, the rumors that Depp will play him are true but he is yet to meet the actor. “I have been frequently compared to Hunter S. Thompson and I have seen Depp’s magnificent portrayal of Thompson,” McAfee says.

“I think Depp is as good as Javier Bardem, John Turturro, Mickey Rourke or Morgan Freeman [to play the part]. I am not joking about the latter. I pray for a time when the skin tone is not a factor in character choice. From what I know of Freeman, his character closest matches mine.”

Hmmm…not quite sure how Morgan Freeman feels about this…and his hair may be white but uh…nevermind…

Anywho, who knows? Maybe Freeman as McAfee could work…or maybe not. Anything’s possible though, if in the course of just two consecutive presidents, we’ve seen ‘hell freeze over’ twice. First a Black man (okay, ‘a biracial man’ for our politically correct readers, we mean no harm here) became President; and then a very tanned White man, who was caught in several highly publicized lies, busted on tape discussing how he uses his wealth and fame as an open invitation to randomly ‘grab women by the pu$$y,’ and has a massive Ku Klux Klan following, also ended up being elected as President. So again, anything’s possible.

By the way, in case you’re wondering why we called John McAfee controversial, it’s because he is also the tech mogul known for his life as a murder suspect on the run from U.S. authorities, after being sought after for the murder of his neighbor (in Beliz) of- American citizen- Gregory Faull, in 2013. Throughout his run, he fled his Beliz home by hiding out in jungles, faking a heart attack, and taking a camera crew along to document the ordeal. He then landed in Guatemala, where he was ultimately extradited to the U.S. for questioning in the case. However, McAfee was never charged with any connection in the death of his neighbor.
