This Is History…
Keenen Wayans mentions that, when he and Robert Townsend wrote Hollywood Shuffle, they actually wrote it as a bunch of sketches, “because we didn’t know how to write a movie.”
He says they took that same mentality to Partners In Crime.
“So, it was … I think more ‘training’ than it was ‘precursor’, because ‘In Living Color’ was a different kind of animal,” Keenen mentions during the interview session. “It…had more intent behind it…more ‘in your face.’ The energy of it was just a bit different.”
And truly, “TO THIS DAY,” In Living Color continues leaving a lasting memory with its viewers. It was far ahead of its time. And everyone who came through its graces found an impactful career afterwards.
