We all loved watching actress, Jasmine Guy, bring her “Different World” character “Whitley,” to life every week. Whitley was prissy as hell and made you wanna shout at the TV sometimes, but she was entertaining to say the least.
What we didn’t know, was that while we were crackin’ up off of “Whitley,” Jasmine was actually madly in love with her then-boyfriend/cast mate for many years. They were together all along, right up under our noses. See who Jasmine’s man was below…
OMG…THEY WERE A COUPLE IN REAL LIFE TOO
Jasmine Guy dated actor, Dominic Hoffman, who played “Whitley’s” other boyfriend “Julian,” on “Diff’rent World.” They were crazy in love during the show and into the early 90’s. Y’all probably also remember they worked together in the film, School Daze. Dominic played “Mustafa,” one of the ‘Gamma’ fraternity brothers, and Jasmine played “Dina,” one of the ‘Wannabe’s.’
Below is a recent photo of Dominic Hoffman. The brotha is aging gracefully, isn’t he?
KADEEM HARDISON ON WHAT IT WAS LIKE PLAYING JASMINE’S LOVE INTEREST IN FRONT OF HER MAN
In an interview with Essence, Kadeem Hardison was asked if there was any awkwardness when having to get lovey-dovey with Jasmine Guy while also working with her then-boyfriend, Dominic Hoffman, on set:
Kadeem Hardison: “Dominic [Hoffman], Jasmine’s boyfriend at the time, did some spots on the show. It’s like you have your work wife and home wife. But your home wife also happens to work with you. As much as that could have been sticky, they were so in love with each other, it was never an issue. Good God, if you thought me and Darryl [Darryl M. Bell is Kadeem’s best friend and the actor who played “Ron” on the show] were close, he and Jasmine were inseparable. They brought out the silliness in each other.”
By the way, after Jasmine and Dominic broke up- following their lengthy, intense relationship- she eventually found love again and married investment broker, Terrence Duckett in 1988. Unfortunately, they divorced in 2008, but the beautiful blessing from their union, is their daughter.
