Jussie Smollett Appears Carefree On Hawaii Vacation After Having Charges Dropped Over ‘Hoax Attack’

Kim Foxx admits she exchanged text messages with members of Jussie Smollett’s family in the early stages of the investigation.

The Cook County attorney tried, at their request, to convince the Chicago PD to let the FBI take the lead in the investigation. She later recused herself from the case.

The police union in Chicago recently passed a vote of no confidence in her abilities.

Attorney Saani Mohammed, who worked side by side with Foxx, also filed a petition asking for an investigation into her decision to drop the 16 felony charges against the Empire actor.

But on Saturday, a defiant Foxx addressed a crowd of her supporters at Rev Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Push Coalition on Saturday.

“I have been asking myself for the last two weeks what is this really about,” Foxx told the audience. “As someone who has lived in this city, who came up in the projects of this city to serve as the first African American woman in this role, it is disheartening to me that when we get in these positions somehow the goal posts change.”

She also reminded everyone that her office did the same thing for the nearly 6,000 low-level defendants who had their charges dropped with “deferred prosecution.”
