Just a few weeks after stirring up controversy, by professing his “love” for his “brother” Donald Trump, and stating ‘slavery was a choice’ that Black people made, Kanye West is at it again. Except this time, dude is using the beloved Whitney Houston as his publicity tool via his Good Music label artist, Pusha T.
Why Kanye Paid $85K For Whitenye’s Drug Laced Bathroom Pic
On Wednesday, May 23, 2018, rapper, Pusha T, did an interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1 to promote his album which is dropped on Friday (May 25). While promoting his album,”Daytona,” Pusha revealed that Kanye pulled a typical sporadic move of changing his album artwork at the last minute. It sounds like no big deal right? However, after Pusha stated that the artwork Kanye wanted to use cost $85,0000.00 for one photo, it caught everyone’s attention.
Turns out, that photo is an eery shot of Whitney Houston’s bathroom, following her alleged drug binge in 2006. The bathroom was messy, with several drug paraphernalia strewn around, including a pipe, spoon, white powder substance, as well as a alcohol.
“[Kanye West] changed my artwork last night at 1 a.m. because he wasn’t feelin’ it,” Pusha T said. “The [original] artwork was pictures that we all agreed on… He picked this photographer, we took these pictures … We picked the pictures. Great. We love it. Everything is good.” […] One a.m., my phone rings. No caller ID. [He says,] ‘Hey, yeah, I think we should change the artwork. And I like this other artwork. And this other artwork is 85 grand.’”
Pusha told ‘Ye that he was not gonna pay $85K for one photo, but once Kanye offered to cover that entire cost, Pusha went with the flow, telling him, “This is what people need to see to go along with this music.”
TMZ then confirmed that the artwork was a from Whitney’s bathroom, that people can licensed nationwide.

Following this revelation, as y’all can imagine, many fans are hella pissed with Kanye. Many are accusing him of exploiting Whitney’s passing for fame and ‘turning into a fame wh*re, like his in-laws.’ Others are questioning why he didn’t choose to exploit his late mother’s passing in a disgraceful way, like he’s doing Whitney’s. However, one will listen to Whitney’s music knowing full well that this is what she did on a regular. The scales might actually be balanced in this case. Either way….had we not known this was her bathroom this wouldn’t be an issue.
