Yep, you’re seeing this right- Jackie Jackson managed music producer/Love & Hip Hop ATL star, Stevie J. Now for those of you who may not know who Stevie is, he’s the guy who has produced hits for some of the biggest artists in hip hop and R&B, such as Beyonce,’ Notorious B.I.G., Mariah Carey, Lil’ Kim, Faith Evans, Puffy and the list goes on and on. BUT he is also one of the wildest, arrogant, womanizing cats on reality TV and is infamously known for playing the women in his life on national TV, like his baby’s mother, Mimi Faust; and his current woman, Joseline Hernandez. Stevie’s had a few fist fights on the show as well, but now that I’ve learned that Jackie Jackson was recently managing him as late as 2012, it makes me wonder if Stevie J’s on-screen antics are just an act.
I say that because it’s almost hard to believe that Jackie would take on a client who is actually as obnoxious as Stevie J sometimes appears to be. We are talking about THE Jackie Jackson- the brotha who has been a part of music history for many decades and has helped to shape music as we know it. So it’s safe to assume that Jackie has many options when it comes to choosing clients. On the other hand, it can be viewed as a smart business move because Stevie J is a helluva producer and he’s highly marketable because of his reality TV fame, so managing his career could help Jackie open up avenues for any other artists/producers he takes on as clients.
Like we mentioned earlier, Stevie J wasn’t just managed by Jackie, he actually worked with Jackie’s record company, Jesco. Here’s what Stevie explained about that:
“I’m a partner in [Jackie Jackson’s] company Jesco. He’s also my manager as well. [My company is] Danger Zone! I got, like, eight artists right now. I have rock, I have pop, I have hip-hop, and some new s–t, ghetto metal. I got so much stuff. I got this 17-year old girl that’s interesting and she’s a white girl that sounds like a little Mariah Carey. I got Mr. Deals, that’s Jackie Jackson’s son.”
Jackie Jackson no longer manages Stevie J. The above quote was from a previous interview with Jawn Murray.
After finding out this fun fact, now I’m curious to see what other artists Jackie Jackson has in his stable. We have some diggin’ to go do, we’ll get back at y’all on this one. Peace family!
