On Friday Remy saw a judge for an initial hearing in the Taylor assault during which she was officially charged with even more serious crimes. Remy is now facing two counts of third-degree assault, one count of second-degree aggravated harassment, and as if that wasn’t enough she’s also been slapped with a final count of second-degree harassment. Remy was offered a deal to plead guilty for assault and have the other charges dropped, with no jail time served yet she’d have to attend anger management classes. However Remy refused the deal and will be headed to trial instead. Page Six reports that as Remy left the courthouse she was not happy with the outcome.
“I have things to do in my life, like, I have a real job, I have a family, I have a husband, I have a daughter,” she said.
Defense attorney Dawn Florio is doing all she can to expose Taylor’s claims as fraudulent, and is also requesting medical records to prove that she suffers from mental illness, a claim Taylor made on social media some time ago. However Taylor’s lawyer doesn’t seem interested in providing those documents.
Taylor’s civil lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, declined to comment on Florio’s request. “My client has confidence in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office to present this case at trial,” he told The Post.
A final twist to this tale is that , according to Essence, this assault charge may have damaging effects on Remy’s freedom.
New York State’s Division of Parole told TMZ that the incident might be a violation of Remy’s parole and that they’re investigating. She has less than three months to finish on her parole after previously serving six years for intentional assault following a 2008 shooting.
Remy and Taylor will face off in court on July 12.
