This is one of those times where you regress back to your childhood days and wish you could get a hug from “Big Bird”…LOL.

In case you haven’t heard by now, it was announced a couple days ago that Sonia Manzana a.k.a. “Maria” is saying “peace out” to Sesame Street after 44 wonderful years! She has been re-tweeting folks reactions to her announcement for the past few days on her Twitter page.

The fact that she was still on the show is news to a whole lot of folks, but yep, she was still on there singing songs to the kids and running the fix-it shop with her TV husband, “Luis.” Those days will be over after this season though. The equally interesting news is how good Sonia is looking these days. None of us over here at ILOSM have watched Sesame Street in years, so we hadn’t laid our eyes on “Maria” in a minute and we were pleasantly surprised to see her.
