The matriarch of the Jackson fam,’ Katherine Jackson, may be 93 years young, but that’s not stopping her for fighting for what she feels is right, even if that means goin’ toe-to-toe with her late son’s estate.
Mama Katherine is demanding a 6-figure sum of $561,548 from her son, Michael Jackson’s, estate to cover legal bills she incurred while fighting the estate’s executors over a proposed deal. Court documents first obtained by Radar Online reveal that Katherine’s law firm, Glaser Weil Fink Howard Jordan & Shapiro, billed her for the legal services provided.
Michael Jackson’s estate and Katherine have been entangled in a legal battle for months. While Michael’s three children were the beneficiaries of his trust, he also established The Katherine Jackson Trust to provide for his mother for the rest of her life. However, conflicts arose between the executors, John Branca and John McClain, and the Jackson family.
The executors reportedly submitted a secret deal for approval, which Katherine opposed in a heavily redacted response. The estate argued that Katherine had previously objected to successful deals, including the highly profitable live concert film “This is It!” The executors claimed that they successfully turned the estate around and generated substantial revenue through various deals.
Despite Katherine’s objections, the judge sided with the estate and authorized the deal to proceed. However, Katherine appealed the decision and requested the estate to reimburse her for a portion of her legal fees. She argued that the estate had sufficient resources to cover the expenses.
From April 1, 2023, to November 30, 2023, Katherine’s law firm billed her $561,548.48 for the appeal work. The executors have yet to respond to her motion for attorney fees.
