Supermodel Naomi Campbell was on “Watch What Happens Live” recently and she shared her opinion on the Nicki Minaj and Cardi B debacle. See below what the legend had to say.
Naomi Campbell Shades Nicki Minaj And Cardi B Over Brawl During Fashion Week:
Supermodel and icon Naomi Campbell was on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” where she decided to share her thoughts on trendy topics. Known for being opinionated, Campbell is not one to shy away from controversy. With an opinion about everything, Campbell was asked to share her thoughts on an array of topics such as the brawl between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.
A legend in her own right, Campbell was one of the first models to coin the phrase “supermodel.” Campbell is highly regarded as an original supermodel, as the term refers to a highly paid fashion model with a worldwide reputation and notoriety. The term supermodel became prominent in the popular culture of the 1980’s and 90’s. Campbell is highly respected in the modeling community and very much prevalent today. Simply put, she’s an icon.
When Campbell stopped by WWHL, Cohen asked her to share her thoughts about Cardi B and Nicki Minaj‘s famous fight at a the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party during New York Fashion Week. Campbell wasted no time sharing her thoughts and she shaded both ladies of hip hop with her remarks.
Andy began by asking if she had been in attendance, to which Naomi responded that she was home with Kate Moss watching television.
“No. It was called the ICON party, but there were no icons there,” Naomi said. “I’m going to say it, because I told it to Carine Roitfeld to her face. So I don’t think it’s something I can’t say. I was disappointed. I don’t want to see women of color fight. I don’t want to see women fight, period. Not there, not that. It’s all music. There’s no division of music. Music’s for everybody, there’s no discrimination, so I felt very disappointed.”
Here’s Naomi Campbell Talking About The Incident Below:
At this point in her life, it’s refreshing to see Campbell so zen, because at one point she was known for having anger issues with her fellow staff members and other models. While Cardi B threw her shoe at Nicki Minaj, Campbell once made headlines for throwing her phone at an employee.
Naomi Campbell Was Famously Known For Having Anger Issues:
In 2006, she famously threw a cell phone at a housekeeper that landed her in a New York court the following year. She was charged with assault and pleaded guilty. She was also ordered to pay an undisclosed sum in reparation, perform five days of community service – which she did dressed in her designer outfits – and attend anger management classes.
Admitting to her struggles, Campbell, who dedicated herself to anger-management classes, has spoken openly about her past drug use, which included cocaine addiction:
“Anger is an emotion. There were things I had to deal with. You have to deal with it,” Campbell, said in 2013 in an interview that aired on Britain’s The Jonathan Ross Show – according to the Mirror.
Campbell was determined to be a new woman because she didn’t like the person she was.
“I don’t want to go back,” she said. “No matter what it is that you’re addicted to – you can be addicted to work – all it is, is an escapism. It’s escaping something, no matter what. For me, I came to my realization at 29 that I didn’t like myself the way I was, and that was it.”
