Terry Crews took fans by surprise when he revealed he’d also been a victim of sexual misconduct in Hollywood. While most celebrities spoke of sexual assault they faced during their humble beginnings in the entertainment industry, Terry shocked fans by revealing he’d been assaulted just last year. Unfortunately, his statements have received mixed opinions, simply because men are often not taken seriously when it comes to sexual assault. The former Everybody Hates Chris star has been praised and/or criticized by fans and celebrities, but when one dude called him a “faggot,” he definitely wasn’t having it. It all started on Twitter when one guy called Crews out.
The War On Twitter:
A commenter who goes by the Twitter name, @SuckaFree, decided to share his opinion of Terry Crews, but he probably didn’t expect Crews to ditch that ‘Hollywood aura’ and go straight back to his Flint, MI roots to clap back. The commenter tweeted and posed an argument, asking “why everyone has been ‘scared to come out,’ before calling crews a ‘fa*got.'” Terry Crews then wasted no time clapping back with the perfect response.
Terry not only it clear that he wasn’t gay, he also noted that the whole war on masculinity is exactly the problem when it comes to the sexual assault of African American men. He argued how much that particular mindset has plagued so many victims for years. “Molesters use this same logic on their female or child victims, calling them ‘b*tches’ or “ho*s’ who asked 4 it,” he responded. “This mindset has gone unchallenged by the Black community for 2 long.”

Speaking Out:
Terry Crews’ Twitter clapback follows weeks of reports about his sexual assault allegations. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor outed his alleged sexual assaulter -Adam Venit, a high level Hollywood exec’ – and made it clear that he would not be ashamed. He also insists assaulters need to be held accountable for their actions, according to ABC News. “People need to be held accountable,” he said. “This is the deal about Hollywood. It is an abuse of power. This guy, again, he’s one of the most powerful man in Hollywood, and he looked at me at the end as if, ‘Who is going to believe you?'”
Crews also made a statement that is actually an example of how he was called out on Twitter. During the interview, he had this to say:
“This the thing that a lot of people just don’t understand, and they end up blaming the victim,” he said. “I have totally said I will not be shamed. I will not be shamed. I did nothing wrong. Nothing.”
Best of luck to Terry Crews and big ups to the brotha for speaking out about such a taboo topic.
