Keyshia Cole is probably on the phone with her lawyers right about now, because from the looks of this new lawsuit, she’s gonna need ’em. A woman named Sabrina Mercadel has just threw a $4million lawsuit at Keyshia for allegedly beating the hell outta her in 2014. By the way…did we mention that this whole alleged beatdown was over Birdman? Yep, you read that right, it was over Toni Braxton current love, Mr. ‘Respeck on it.’
The Reported Beatdown
You see, what had happened was in 2014 Keyshia Cole and Birdman were reportedly dating (Keyshia was separated from her then husband/retired NBA player, Daniel “Booby” Gibson). According to a police report filed by the LAPD, Keyshia showed up to Birdman’s Los Angeles penthouse at 5a.m. and found Sabrina there. That’s when Keyshia’s ‘inner Frankie’ (her take-no-mess mother) came out of her and proceeded to open up a can of whoop a$$ on Sabrina, according to the police report.
Cole was charged with misdemeanor battery, but because she had an outstanding warrant for reckless driving as well, she was taken to jail. The following morning, she posted bail for $46K and attempted to keep it on the low as best she could.
What The Woman Is Seeking In Lawsuit
For a while it looked like both Keyshia, Birdman, Sabrina had let bygones be bygones, until now. Check out the list of what Ms. Mercadel is going after Keyshia for (via TMZ):
– $1.5 mil, pain and suffering
– $500k, emotional distress
– $2 mil, loss of use of body part
– $200k, future medical expenses
– $50k, loss of earnings
– $300k, future loss of earnings
Sabrina Mercadel has maintained that she and Birdman only had a “plutonic” friendship and that no funny stuff was going down when Keyshia showed up at his crib at 5a.m. As of now, neither Keyshia, nor Birdman have spoken out about the lawsuit.
Looks like Keysh’ got herself in a pickle this time. But hopefully she’ll be able to handle this situation soon and get back to focusing on her craft. Sure she may have had a lil’ angry hiccup, but that’s why she needs to hop in the studio again to put all that aggression and pain on an album. If we’re lucky enough, she just might create another “Love” type of joint from all of this drama. That was one of her best hits, don’t you agree?
