Carl’s Classic Catalog
Carl Thomas had a very successful career in the early 2000’s with hits like the song of forbidden love ‘I Wish’ and the smooth, island vibe rhythms of the classic joint ‘Summer Rain’.
Thomas released more music after those two classic cuts, yet has remained very low key in recent years. However, he is still very active with touring and social media. And he’s had nothing but good things to say about his time with Bad Boy Records and its founder Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, especially in regards to the rumor that Diddy does his artists dirty. A claim that Thomas doesn’t believe in at all. In a 2018 interview with Hip Hop News Uncensored, Thomas explained:
“When I was on the label I was very much, like I am still to this day, it’s very much family, but I existed in my own microcosm. With my own regime. My own crew. My own after parties. I can definitely tell you that ain’t happen to me! Like everything else, it’s according to what you know.”
He also revealed that while working at Bad Boy, he was grateful to learn as much as he could from Diddy:
“Most labels they sign you and say ‘Do your thang!’ But puff gives into his vision and he‘s a really, really good executive and I couldn’t be doing any of this if I wasn’t blessed to meet him. He was one of the first people who told me that I was gonna last a lonnng time in this game. I love him and I love everything that he’s doing right now.”
Maybe Diddy will stop by and visit Thomas, or possibly send well wishes as he recovers from his surgery.
