out of performing her “Take my Hand, Precious Lord” performance, that she performed as Mahalia Jackson in “Selma.” They chose Beyonce’ to perform it instead. Now that’s just wrong. Common and John Legend were allowed to perform their “Selma” song, so why did they have to do the singer swap with Ledisi and Beyonce’? I understand they want ratings, but I’m pretty sure they could have found another way to slide Beyonce’ in the show because well, she’s Beyonce’ and has plenty of hits that the fans would have also loved to see her sing. Ledisi said that she was “a little disappointed” about getting bumped, but she was going to stay positive and uplift and support all women, including Beyonce’ because it’s not her fault. That was big of her, and she’s right, it’s not necessarily Beyonce’s fault, because what we’re hearing now is that John Legend said that Beyonce’ came to him at the last minute and asked to sing the song and introduce he and Common. Now I respect John Legend as an artist, but he didn’t have to agree to that, nor did the Grammy producers have to okay it after already having planned for Ledisi to perform. Bottom line is it’s just messed up that Ledisi didn’t touch that Grammy stage, in my humble opinion.
Ledisi also said this about not being asked to perform at the Grammys:
So for these reasons, it’s kind of hard for me to get into this particular trophy show.
Beyonce’ got snubbed out of an award too. Why did she lose to Beck?!! Is he really a better artist than her? Some might say yeah, but in my opinion the answer is no. Now I know most of us are probably tired of hearing Beyonce’ on the radio every hour on the hour, but the woman is still a very talented singer who deserved that award.
Overall, the Grammys was just more of the same thing it is every year- a snooze fest with a couple good moments. Raise your hand if you felt like you were sitting through something that for whatever reason, felt like you didn’t want to turn the channel because you might miss something, but at the same time you were thinking about everything you had to do in the morning. THANK YOU Prince for shaking up the show and putting your 7 seconds to good use.
Prince is always a trend setter when it comes to fashion, yet the last two times I’ve seen him on a national TV show he’s been wearing those round shades and carrying a cane. When he walks out on stage, it appears as those all he needs is a seeing-eye dog to make the look complete. I’m glad to see he took the shades off. Love Prince. Madonna not so much.

Truth be told, Prince’s latest CD along with his band’s CD 3rd Eye Girl and his protogee Liv Warield should’ve been nominated! They were by far better than anything that won….. But lets face it, the Grammys are about pop slop and not true artist…….

Beyonce is a wonderful entertainer. Far more talented voices in the industry that are not fairly recognized. How about we do a sing off?

Well, I think it is Beyonce”s fault if she came and asked at the last minute to sing the song, knowing full well that they {he whomever}, wpuld not turn her down! It seems to me she got what she wanted to let whoever may feel she can”t really sing that she can actually sing! It was like I will be seen & heard at whoever expense it may be! She did good considering, but Ledisi would have knocked it out of the box, as she would have been more genuine & less theatrical! Also the annointing factor along adds so much, that regardles that she not as famous as B#you know what, let me leave it along because obviously its about name recognition power & influence!

I agree with a lot of what I read here, but honestly folks it’s NARAS (Nat’l Acdmy. of Recording Arts & Sciences), not WAB (Which Artist is Better), and for those who didn’t win in 2015, it doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of another nom.

I think that was a terrible thing that B did, she should be ashamed, but I don’t think she is.

I didn’t bother to watch the Grammys since I feel the sections I am interested in aren’t showed anyway. I don’t recognize any of the nominated songs and I think real music on a whole has been ignored for more commercialized pop artist. Disenfranchised is the word that comes to mind. Ledisi should have sang her nominated song not Mrs Carter

How much attention does one person really need. It was a petty move on B’s part to take Ledisi’s place. What was she worried about? Being upstaged by rising talent. She should be worried, Ledisi is phenomenal.
Ouch Coral, you’re speaking your mind I see. LOL.
