Throughout the 41 year career of the late icon, Prince, he was always known to keep his hairstyles on point. We’ve seen him rock a plethora of different styles, ranging from an afro, to claw curls, to bantu knots, and back to a ‘fro at the end of his life. No matter the style though, he took pride in his hair and for nearly 30 years there was only woman woman he trusted with his mane- his hairstylist, Kim Berry.
Speaking of Ms. Berry, a throwback photo of the one rare time Prince was photo’d with his hair jacked up, was when she was in the midst of styling it for him. It was so rare to see Prince with messed up hair -given that the brotha was always sharp as cactus hair from head to toe- that he internet is having a good chuckle (in the most respectful way of course) at Prince’s messed up hairdo pic.
Rare Shot Of Prince Getting His ‘Do Did
Below is the shot that caught everybody off guard and it was a cool thing to witness. Prince was known as one of the hardest working cats in the music game, so it was rare to see him having some chill time, away from the lights and cameras, as his hairstylist went to work.

In remembrance of Prince’s life and legacy, the photo was shared by the legendary, Morris Day, of The Time band. Morris, who was a longtime friend of Prince’s since they were teens, captioned the photo:
“Sometimes we all need to relax and rest, something he didn’t do much of… always working and hardly sleeping!”
It’s beautiful that Kim Berry was able to help Prince break-away from the stresses of his demanding career, if only for the duration of a wash and roller set length of time. See what else she revealed about Prince below…
Prince’s Hairstylist Refused To Be His “Yes Man” & He Loved It
A year after Prince passed away in 2016, his hairstylist, Kim Berry, did an interview with CBS Minnesota, to recall the man she knew more than most of his longtime employees. According to Kim, she was one of the only few employees who lasted as long as she did. Kim explained it was her unwillingness to be Prince’s “Yes man” -like so many others were to him- and her willingness to always “keep it real with him,” that enticed Prince to keep her around for nearly 30 years:
“Same way he did his music, he collaborated with his hair as well. […] He needed someone real around him. And with all the ‘yes men’ and all the people that would tell him ‘yes’ when it should have been ‘no,’ I didn’t do that, I kept it real. And I think he needed that.”

Hairstylist Shuts Down Misconceptions About Prince
Prince’s hairstylist also did an interview with ABC News’ “20/20”, where she revealed the many misconceptions and unknown personality traits about Prince that most folks don’t know:
Via ABCNews: “A lot of people, before I started working for him, gave me a lot of rules, ‘Don’t touch his ears. Don’t do this. Don’t look at him in the face.’ … I said, ‘How am I going to do his hair if I can’t look at him in the face? So how do I wash his hair and can’t touch his ears?'”
“And years later after I had been employed by him he asked me, ‘What did they tell you when you first started working for me?’ … And I said, ‘Oh they gave me all kind of rules.’ He said, ‘I’ve never told anyone anything like that.’ He said, ‘So I think it’s hilarious that people make up stuff.’ […] They wanted this mystique to be bigger than it was and he just wanted to be treated regular,” [Kim] Berry said. “He never required anything. There was no rules on that. I mean you just knew, you know, I work for the biggest entertainer in the world so you knew you had to be on your game at all times.”
