Suge: ‘You need the homies to help you survive’…
During the interview, Suge reminisced about why, when he was at the height of his career, he loved going back to the hood to “get chili cheese fries and strawberries and talk to my lil homies.” But he also stated that unfortunately ‘when you do that you need those homies to “help you survive.”‘ It seems that Suge feels Nipsey’s homies who were present during the fatal shooting at his Marathon Clothing store, possibly should have done something to protect him more.
Suge also compared the influence of Nipsey- a Crip-turned-rapper/activist- and his devotion toward unifying his community, to Tupac’s influence. “I feel that Nipsey was trying to follow the same Tupac manual to the community. He came together with YG [a Blood-turned-rapper] like Snoop did with Tupac,” said Snoop.
Nipsey’s Brother Explained Why The Homies Couldn’t Protect Nip’ During Shooting
Suge Knight voiced a concern that many initially had, regarding why Nipsey’s associates didn’t do more to protect him and understandably so. However, according to Nipsey’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, the reason no one shot back at the alleged killer during the shooting, is because none of the homies had guns.
Nipsey intentionally employed ex-felons to help them better their lives, but by doing so, they also legally could not pack heat, because of their criminal records. In addition to that, on March 31st Nipsey had not informed anyone from his inner circle that he was briefly droppin’ by his store to treat his friend -who’d just gotten out of prison after 20 years- to some fresh clothes. Therefore, Nipsey’s security was not with him, nor was Samiel, who says he would have had his gun and would have definitely shot back.
All of those reasons are why alleged killer, Eric Holder, was allegedly able to shoot Nipsey, but then after realizing no one was shooting back, he walked back and shot him again after Nip’ talked back.
Rest in power Nipsey Hussle.
