R. Kelly and his team have just gotten a hold of the alleged child porn video they’ve been waiting to review for months, ever since prosecutors’ claims, that he had sex with yet another underaged girl, resurfaced earlier this year. The “Seems Like You’re Ready” crooner, ‘stepped in the name” of the law, when he showed up to a Cook County, IL courthouse that was surprisingly packed with fans on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. He was there for a scheduled hearing and to seize opportunity to get the DVD that prosecutor, Michael Avenatti, has been speaking publicly about.
The video in question is reportedly from a 20 year old VHS tape, in which Avenatti claims R. Kelly is seen reportedly having sex with a then 14 year old girl. Avenatti also claims that both the female and R. Kelly stated that she was 14 in the video. On the flip side, R. Kelly’s lawyers have long since argued that the video is likely the same one from his 2008 child porn trial, in which he was found not guilty.
Judge Warns R. Kelly’s Team
The judge issued R. Kelly’s team a warning on Wednesday, which Kelly’s lawyer immediately responded to with suspicions of his own about the side of the prosecutors:
Via Chicago Tribune– Judge Lawrence Flood warned the defense team not to leak the tape to the public. Kelly’s lawyer quickly retorted that prosecutors also should be on guard, noting that the footage, was reportedly from a VHS tape given to prosecutors by celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti.
Controversial Prosecutor Slams R. Kelly After Turning Over Video
Soon as Michael Avenatti turned over his tape on Wednesday, he did what he’s known for doing- he took to Twitter to sound off about it:
“R Kelly engaged in sexual assault of a 14 year old girl. There is no question it is him. And both he and the girl acknowledge her age on the tape. R Kelly is a serial sexual predator and he will be convicted.”
As far as R. Kelly’s lawyers believing that the sex video is the same one from Kellz’s 2008 trial, Avenatti stated:
“Let us all remember that Steve Greenberg, R. Kelly’s lead attorney, previously claimed the tape I turned over to prosecutors earlier this year, which led to the charges pending against him, was the same tape from the prior case. He did this without any knowledge as to its content. This was an absolute lie.”
