“It was hell. It was living in hell. He’s literally the devil”
For most fans, it’s easier to understand how a young black girl could be recruited into R&B legend, R. Kelly’s alleged sex cult, but most fans cannot comprehend how a GROWN woman could fall prey to the alleged sexual, mental, and physical abuse that R. Kelly has been accused of.
Asante McGee, a 38-year-old divorcee with three children, a thriving HVAC business and homeowner of a 2,500 square foot home in a quiet suburb just outside Atlanta would appear to most to be a strong black woman, with a strong foundational background.
“People keep saying, Oh I would never allow a man to do this to me. I would never this, I would never that. You never know what you would allow until you’re put in that situation. I promised myself when I left my ex-husband that I would never allow another man to abuse me or mistreat me, and I ended up with R. Kelly, in the very situation I’d promised myself to avoid. I genuinely did not think that he would hurt me on purpose; I know now that he used my pain to his advantage.”
McGee told Channel 2 Action News, “It was hell. It was living hell. He’s literally the devil….I felt degraded”
How was McGee made to be vulnerable enough to fall victim to this alleged superstar?
