R. Kelly has just had to cancel some of the dates on his tour, “After Party,” and his team had a lil’ something to say about it. The concert cancellations come after the recent ‘sex cult’ allegations surfaced about Kellz.
Prior to now, everything seemed all good for his shows. In fact, shortly after the allegations came out, his ticket sales reportedly went through the roof. Now though, it seems they took a bit of a hit for some cities.
Via TMZ: Four of Kelly’s 10 upcoming tour dates were canceled Monday. Just last week he’d vowed he would continue touring, despite being accused of running a sex cult with young women. Two shows in Louisiana got axed, one in Dallas and another in Los Angeles. Our sources say the 4 stops were nixed due to poor ticket sales, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. As we reported … his Friday night gig in Virginia was barely half full, and fans were pissed he only played for 45 minutes.
Although four shows were cancelled, Kellz’ team is adamant that it was not due to the allegations, but instead to scheduling conflicts and other unspecified reasons.
We don’t know what the concert cancellations are due to. However, because the ‘sex slave’ claims seem to so far be as bogus as Kelly and his attorney initially stated they were, Kelly may actually have an additional reason to follow up on the legal actions against the accusers now.
As we previously reported, the police have checked out the situation and found no wrongdoing on Kelly’s part regarding the women living at his homes. Also, Kellz reportedly added Bill Cosby’s former powerhouse attorney, Monique Pressley, to his legal team to go after the two parents and three former female associates who made the ‘sex cult’ claims to the media. He could possibly sue for defamation and maybe now even loss of revenue, although he’d have to prove that was the cause of low ticket sales though.
Just as the family of Kelly’s ‘girlfriend’ (not the family who made the sex cult claims) previously pointed out: R. Kelly may be guilty of something– past or present, but in this alleged ‘sex cult’ situation, he’s probably not guilty of anything illegal.
