Y’all… It looks like the Food Network is today’s Donkey of The Day. Why? Well, for those who missed it, the network latest social media marketing effort took a nose dive after a comedian was mistaken for Patti LaBelle. It all started with an epic error in a tweet.
But….How?:
Earlier today, the network took to Twitter with a promotional tweet for their show Beat Bobby Flay. Although Loni Love will be co-hosting the show along with Chef Anne Burrell, she definitely wasn’t the woman in the picture they featured. The network screwed up and posted a photo of Patti LaBelle and Chef Burrell along with a tweet that read, “Think @LoniLove and @chefanneburrell can find a chef to #BeatBobbyFlay?! Anything can happen tonight! Don’t miss it @ 10|9c!”
Loni Love Responds:
Since the Food Network has such a large following, of course, the tweet didn’t go unnoticed. In fact, even Loni Love noticed the tweet and quickly responded. As expected, Loni had to throw in a joke to point out one of the reasons why it should have been easy to tell them apart. However, she did throw the network a lifeline mentioning how they wore similar wigs. She corrected the network tweeting, “Lordy @FoodNetwork that is @MsPattiPatti .. she 75 lbs lighter then me but we do wear similar wigs…”
Loni also took to Instagram with a screenshot of her Twitter post and another message to Food Network. This time, Loni finally said what most people were probably already thinkin. The caption read, “Hey @FoodNetwork, if only you knew Ingot a attitude new of my own…#PattiSings #AllBlacksLooksAlike”

She also posted a real photo she’d actually taken with Patti:

But It Gets Worse:
You’d think the network would have moved swiftly to correct the epic error, but according to The Jasmine Brand, it actually stayed on the network’s page for quite some time before being removed. However, there are quite a few screenshots just like the one Loni posted on Instagram. Now, the blunder tweet has been replaced with a retweet from Bobby Flay which shows a real photo of Patti LaBelle. The caption for that reads, “Tune into tonight’s new #BeatBobbyFlay…you won’t want to miss @MsPattiPatti & @chefanneburrell trying to take me down. @FoodNetwork 10pm.
Check out his tweet below:

Dragged Dragged:
Like Loni, many social media users are pointing out the obvious. Others are givin’ Food Network serious side eye. Like, do we all really look alike? Many of Loni’s fans have flooded her post with comments directed at Food Network. Most fans have a simple message for the network: not all black people look alike. “Wow smh that’s very low of @foodnetwork,” one person wrote. Another wrote, “@comiclonilove You don’t even look like Patti tho… @foodnetwork who is working in your social media department? #notallblackpeoplelookalike”
It’s quite obvious people are over the off-base observations. “Omg Stop It! I can’t really @foodnetwork C’mon Man, all black folks don’t look alike. Although @comiclonilove and @mspattilabelle are both beautiful black women! Really?? SMH”
Food Network has yet to address the error and, at this point, it’s probably safe to say they won’t say anything at all.
