First, we wanna congratulate Ms. Regina King – or as she’s best known to many of us Old Schoolers, “Brenda Jenkins” (from “227”) – for her SECOND Emmy Awards win for the second year in a row! At the 2016 Emmy Awards (which aired Sunday Sept. 18), Regina won for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a limited series or movie’ for the ABC drama series, “American Crime.”

We are truly happy for her, but it was Regina’s 20 year old son, Ian, who had the biggest ‘turn up’ reaction to his Momma’s win out of everyone. In fact, ‘turn up’ is actually the advice he gave Regina when she called him live on the air shortly after her win.
You see, Ian was at the Emmy’s when Regina won last year, but this year he couldn’t make it. On top of that, Regina revealed to ETOnline that he was at home on the phone with Direct TV at the time of her win, because just before the winner was announced, their Direct TV went out at their home. Talk about bad timing!
Anyways, Regina did the next best thing for her son, since he missed it all, and called him during her interview with ETOnline. As soon as Ian answered, he immediately went into a chant and was like “Ay-oooo! Hey, hey…!!!” Regina laughed and then quickly told him “OK, Ian, you’re on ‘Entertainment Tonight’ right now.” Then Ian said “Oh, I almost cussed!” LOL…too funny, and it’s clear to see that Regina and Ian have a cool relationship.
On Ian’s advice to Regina about what she should do to celebrate her win, he told her “I love you, I love you, I love you…Turn up! Turn up!”

“Just having some time with her by myself a lot is wonderful,” Gloria King told ET. As for the recognition her daughter has received from the Academy, she said, “There are no words. There’s absolutely nothing I could say. All I could remember is her practicing with an Emmy when she was little.”
