Remember The 90’s Group Jade?!! Well We Found Them!

their big comeback last year (2014) when they dropped their new single, “Baby Luv” on iTunes from their newest album, Continuum.

They said they originally broke up because they got tired of everyone around them making millions off of their hard work, except them. So they took a break to try to regroup and that break eventually turned into a definite split after they each became involved in other ventures. They’re looking gorgeous nowadays and have chosen individual paths throughout the years before regrouping and adding a new member, Myracle.

Tonya has reunited with Joi and also has a career in design. She said this about juggling her music and design careers:
“Each is like body parts, music is my left hand and design is the right hand. I couldn’t solve life’s problems without creating music I write songs so that I can sleep and I build things to prove I’m alive”. Sometimes, I yearn to be on the road it’s the perfect vessel for me as an artist. I remember traveling around the world from Germany, London, New York, Japan as a recording artist often I’d pretend to be exhausted as an excuse to stay in my hotel suite away from the entourage so that I could sneak away and explore the local architecture, antique showrooms and thrift shops”.

Joi was instrumental in getting the group back together and she disclosed some info about the group that was never known to us:
“I actually was the original member of Jade. It was a different Jade from what came out. Jade was originally Joi, Angie, Debbie. So there were two other young ladies. That Jade sort of did the work to get the deal. Once we got the deal, there was some…chaos in terms of what the label decided they wanted, what they didn’t want and they dropped Angie and Debbie and then we got Tonya and we got Di.”

Joi was also creating gospel music that she referred to as “not like straight gospel, it’s more like gospel with a bump to it.”

The third member, Di Reed, is no longer with the group, but they are all still friends. Di now travels the world singing background for legendary rock star, Rod Stewart. Check out a video of her below…

It’s great seeing Jade make a comeback just like so many other R&B groups from the 80’s and 90’s seem to be doing lately, like En Vogue, Jodeci, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge, and more. We desperately need their artistry in the music industry, so if you were a fan of their’s back in the day, be sure to go out and support them if you can today.
