There are certain cult classic films in which many of the characters- no matter how big or small their role- will always have a lasting effect on our Old School memories. One of those films is Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing and two of those characters are the kid who played ‘Eddie’ and the actress who played his mom, ‘Louis.’

Remember their scene when ‘Eddie’ darted out in front of a speeding car to chase after the ice cream truck? That’s when the drunk neighbor, ‘Da Mayor’ (Ossie Davis), rushed to save him by knocking him down to the ground to push him outta the way.
‘Louise’ then came outside and ultimately gave ‘Eddie’ an old school butt whoppin’ to get his mind right after ‘Da Mayor’ explained what happened. Gotta luv those Old School memories!
Anywho, ‘Eddie’ was played by then 14 year old actor, Richard Habersham, and ‘Louise’ was played by actress, Gwen McGee. Ever since the film hit the scene hard in 1989, things have progressed with both actors throughout the years. We were sitting here, at ILOSM, wondering what they were up to these days, so we did a lil’ diggin.’ Check out their current situations below…
“Eddie” Now…
Today, Richard Habersham a.k.a. ‘Eddie’ is a 43 year old married man, who wed his bride, Ahsaki Elizabeth Benion, in 2009. Geesh! Where did the time go, right?!! He and his wife are both from Manhattan, NY, not too far from the Brooklyn, NY neighborhood where Do The Right Thing was filmed. Richard is still getting his acting on these days in theater and film and he’s also a Manhattan, NY real estate broker and an organizer at an NY nonprofit organization.
“Louise” Now…
Most of us have probably been seeing Gwen McGee do her thing on the big and small screen ever since her role as ‘Louise’ put her on the map in ’89. On her website, it states that she’s proud that she’s currently listed “in the top 20% of the Screen Actors Guild membership who actually make a living at their craft.” She’s starred in several roles in films such as, Coach Carter, New Jersey Drive, Cradle 2 The Grave, and more. She’s also earned the title of director to her resume.’ Lastly, Gwen has been enjoying the married life to her husband of 30 years (since 1988), Anthony Coleman.
And there ya’ have it ILOSM fam!’ It’s always a beautiful ting to see actors who contributed to great old school memories for us all, continuing to enjoy their craft by doing what they love.
