out the tires, windshield and basically killed the car,” says a friend. “No one was around at the time, but it must have made a hell of a noise.” (Johnny Carson later gagged, “If you’re ever invited to Richard Pryor’s for a party, forget the valet parking.”)
“I love my wife,” Richard now says contritely. “I don’t know how the situation got so out of hand.” Deboragh, who’s moved to an L.A. apartment and gone back to study junior college psych and real estate, likewise professes to “love Richard very much.” But, she adds, “A lot of things were said in anger that will be hard to smooth over. Richard just can’t argue. He waits until something gets under his skin so bad he blows up.”

Pryor’s last wife, Jennifer Pryor (whom he married twice) later told her side of this story as well:
[quote_box_center]
Jennifer Pryor: “Then [Richard’s and Deborah’s] marriage ended; he was married to her [Deborah] very briefly, and a week later he and I — I worked for him for six months prior to that — started dating a week after that. Any normal girl would have said, “Shooting a car! Guns! What? I’m outta here!” Nope, not me.”
What drew you to him?
JP: Oh my god. You name it he had it. Vulnerability, toughness and a wonderful sense of personal dignity and at the same time you know its just courage, unafraid courage. When he has convictions he stands tall and committed to his truth. I can just go on and on and on. It was all the things that I felt I had known when I met Richard; he confirmed them. What being true to yourself, knowing to stand your ground and being brave; let the light in. Just all of that corny, cliche stuff. He was a man I just knew I was going to come into myself with him and he would help me and teach me and hopefully we would teach each other and I think that that is true.

Goodness gracious! If reality TV existed back in the day, our beloved Richard Pryor would have been a prime candidate for it in his heyday…LOL. Nonetheless, one of the things we’ve always respected about this comedic genius is his ability to be painfully honest about his life and even his own shortcomings. We all know it’s not easy to reveal your lowest moments publicly to millions of people, so for that, I tip my hat to the brotha.
Will you be catching the movie Pryor’s wife, Jennifer is producing, starring comedian, Mike Epps as Richard Pryor? A couple months ago, “Empire” director Lee Daniels (who is also producing the Richard Pryor biopic, hinted on Instagram that he’s in talks with Eddie Murphy to star in the movie also. It’s being rumored that Eddie will play his idol, Richard Pryor’s, father, LeRoy “Buck Carter” Pryor, a boxer and WWII veteran.
