ILOSM family our previous suspicions about the health status of John Singleton, having unfortunately just been confirmed and are far worse than what was initially reported by the family.
The Initial Details That Were Reported
Singleton’s family initially said he’d suffered a “mild stroke,” while in his hospital room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., after he’d checked himself into the hospital for leg weakness last week. They’d also said John was was in rehab, as well as undergoing a few more tests. At the time, it was presented as if his stroke was seemingly just a minor setback.
It wasn’t until the family provided their second update that we, here at ILOSM, noticed some red flags. They’d mentioned that Singleton was in ICU a few days ago, without revealing why. The unfortunate red flag at that time was that mild strokes do not require a patient to be placed in ICU, only severe strokes are the culprit of such action.
The Latest On Singleton’s Heartbreaking Status…
Fast forward to Thursday (April 25, 2019) and Singleton’s family has now revealed that John Singleton is in a coma, but the details of what that really could mean brings tears to our eyes and wills us to pray for the brotha even more so.
The Boyz N’ The Hood director has apparently been in a coma ever since he suffered the stroke at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A..
What John Singleton’s Mom Had To Do…
Because Singleton had no medical directives, his Mother has just filed for a conservatorship of his estate:
Via TMZ- According to the legal docs, obtained by TMZ, John’s mom, Shelia Ward, is asking a judge to appoint her temporary conservator because he is “unable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.”
His mother said, at the time he suffered the stroke, he was engaged in several business projects and was prepared to sign a lucrative settlement agreement. She wants to handle those affairs and execute the settlement agreement.
Here’s A Further Look At What His Current Condition Could Really Mean>>>
For those who may be unaware, a conservatorship is classified as ‘A guardian or a protector is appointed by a judge to manage the financial affairs and/or daily life of another due to physical or mental limitations, or old age.’
Here is a breakdown of the challenges of people who suffer severe strokes may face:
Via MDEdge: “Most strokes are probably never seen in the ICU, and they are more optimally managed in stroke units,” said [Daryl R. Gress, MD], Associate Professor of Neurology and Director of Neurocritical Care at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. “In critical care, we are really talking about individuals with either severe deficits and high NIH [National Institutes of Health] Stroke Scale scores or those in which mental status is compromised. We also see those postrevascularization.”
A decline in mental status is the most common reason that patients with stroke are admitted into the ICU, along with the need for intubation, largely for airway protection, according to Dr. Gress. “By the time that one needs to intubate, you are dealing with a very serious problem,” he said.
ILOSM fam’ please continue to keep John Singleton in your thoughts and prayers. Right now he needs all of the positive, healing energy that we can send his way. His Mother and loved ones need strength at this time as well. Hopefully, we’ll have better news to report about his status soon.
